Katrina's Blog

In 2004 I worked in a Christian bookstore in Redlands CA called Selah. I didn't work there long without noticing that quite a few people came in search of a children's book called You are special by Max Lucado. I helped many customers find and purchase the book without ever cracking it open. I must have thought it was just a "kids" book. Well...I was wrong. It's one of the best books I've ever read and in my opinion think everyone should read. I happened into a local thrift store about 3 or 4 months ago and scanned the book shelves for some treasure. There it was, without the jacket, in very good shape. It was only $1 and I was thrilled...I knew it had to be a good book if so many people were after it a few years ago. I got it home and stuck it on Grace's shelf and waited for her to choose it for story time. It was quite a few days before she was ready for a new book ( she gets on book jags). I read it aloud to her and was in tears. I know some of you are thinking...I know Katrina and she is the emotional type (that is very true) but I wouldn't cry. That might very well be true! Later that night I told Lance what had happened at story time and told him he should read the book aloud with Grace at bedtime. He read it and wept too (not usually like him!). It is a very well written little story that speaks such simple truth that goes straight to our hearts! I'd recommend this book for anyone and everyone!
