The "Punkin" patch
Posted: October 12th, 2008 The "Punkin" patch

Yesterday (Saturday) we had a fun fall adventure. We went to the Vermeer Farm and pumkin patch. The trip was planned by DeerFlat Church, the church we attended when we first moved to ID. Our friends the Cliff's (Josh, Kari and Aidan) were going to be going as well as another of our friends (Kristina and her son Caleb). We meet at Deerflat and loaded onto a school bus that would take us to the farm. Grace was very excited to take her first ride on a big yellow bus! We sang "wheels on the buss" a favorite tune, that she usually sings with her Papa. When we arrived at the farm we all found a spot on the "Haystacks" as Grace called them. Right away we realized that this trip would be a quick one due to the high wind chill factor! On the ride to the patch we passed the dairy cows and all the kids made moo-ing sounds and laughed at how clever they were! We reached the patch and I helped Lance get Faith situated in the baby carrier, She wasn't too thrilled to be out in the cold even though she was bundeled up! We then hunted for the perfect pumpkin and found a winner! As soon as everyone had picked their pumpkins we piled back onto the "Haystacks" and the tractor that was pulling our trailor didn't start. It took about 5 guys gathering around the cab and fiddeling with switches to get it to start up and we were finally on our way! We stoped at the farm house for apple juice and doughnuts before we were pulled back to the WARM bus. Grace was ready to head back to the pumpkin patch once she was warmed up! We plan on going to another pumpkin patch next weekend, hopefully it will be a little warmer! All in all we had a really fun time!
