Here is a quick, reflective journal entry to bring y'all up-to-date on our most recent celebration of life. All our children, Sandy, Bonnie, Lance and Joel, were able to come to Speculator a couple of weeks ago for some fun-in-the-sun 'n snow. What a joy to have them with us to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary (actual date Feb. 22) as well. For the better part of a week with them, their spouses (sadly, except Natalie), and of course our six precious grandkids, we raised the roof—quiet was not the name of the game! We didn't care, because we were surrounded by our fantastically, astonishing family—what this side of heaven could be better than that? Our special gift was a fantastic, bound Shutterfly book with pictures and greetings from so many of our family and longtime friends. Some were even so kind as to say that we hadn’t even changed over the years—of course we didn’t recognized many of them either! Our time with family eventually came to an end as they made their ways back home around the U.S.A. Now our large home is quiet enough to remind us of a cemetery in the dead of winter. At least we have Skype to keep us connected with live video from time-to-time. Our actual anniversary weekend did provide us with a bit of hustle ‘n bustle as our friends and occasional neighbors (up from their first home in Connecticut), Jim and Mina Swanson, took us out on Friday to Melody Lodge for a sumptuous dinner. Saturday night an invitation to a home cooked supper and fellowship with three other couples kept us entertained, as did a delightful Sunday evening feast with two other couples. Hopefully our over-indulgence of cuisine on the celebratory anniversary weekend can be overcome by some earnest caloric cutbacks and maybe even some exercise this week. Well, that’s more than enough blogging for now. Come back again to see if I’m more active than I’ve been.
